Description

The last affordable microrotor movement ever made, was the Caliber 2538 Harley from Ronda S.A. It was constructed in the early 1980ies as an extra flat automatic movement, which shall compete with the upcoming flat quartz movements. The 2538 was made between 1986 and 1989 and a small number, built from stock, was re-issued in the early 2000s.

The movement is not a very beautiful one, with the bent and undecorated plates, but it offers all, a consumer movement must have: It was fully jewelled, contains an Incabloc shock protection and a date quickset feature on the middle crown position (disfunctional) on my movement.

The tiny balance is noteable: It makes the watch immune against influences from outside (shocks) and inside (the rotor unweight) and promised fair precision results.

Although the movement is technical and optical rather crude and simple, it is very much search after because of its rare microrotor. In the 1980ies, it could be obtained for example in "Meister-Anker" watches from the "Quelle" shop for approx. 30 Euros.
