Description
In the 1960s, AHS launched their caliber series 70, in which the base caliber AHS 70 was extended with a date indication - the 10 1/2 ligne caliber AHS 75, shown here.
Also the AHS 75 is hallmarked as “AHS 70”, which makes its identification a little difficult.
We have a better pin ever movement here, where at least all important bearing contains rubies, often together with cap jewels.
The gear train of this pillar movement is classical: Mainspring barrel, center minute wheel, third wheel, seconds wheel and steel escape wheel.
The indirectly driven center second indication is driven by a second wheel on top of the third wheel axle. It center second pinion is beared under an own cock with a ruby, a good solution.
The anular balance is protected with a pair of (unfortunately missing on the specimen shown here) RUFA Antishock protections.
It beats contemporarily slow with 18000 A/h and can be regulated at the hairspring key only.
The ratchet of the AHS 75 is located on the dial side as well as the rocking bar keyless works. The ratchet consists only of a simple u-shaped spring, as you can see at 12 o’clock.
The calendar module is secured with three screws onto the dial side. Most probalby a calendar disc is used. Although is is missing on the specien shown here, it’s relative, the AHS 154, uses the same calender mechanism.
