Description
One of the most common form movements for ladies' watches is the 5 1/2 ligne, tonneau-shaped AS 1012, which was launched, depending on what information source you have, either in the 1930s or in the early 1950s.
Thanks to its enormous popularity and distribution, it was available in many versions differing by the number of (cap) jewels, shock protections and executions of the balance wheel.
Dugena used it under the caliber number Dugena 870, and Consul as Consul 55.
A rather late version can be seen here, 21 jewels and an anular Glucydur balance - almost high end.
As the base plate shows, it is very well made, so for example all important bearings contain rubies.
The gear train is typical for these kind of tonneau movement:
The mainspring barrel drives the center minute wheel, followed
by third and seconds wheel, and finally the steel escape
wheel.
Due to lacking space, the dial-side bearing for the seconds wheel is located above the escape wheel, so that we have a quasi two-storey construction.
The balance, which was availabe in different executions, beats with 18000 A/h, which can be regulated with a long regulator arm. As escapement, a swiss pallet lever is used.
On some of the specimens shown here, the balance wheel is beared in a pair of Incabloc shock protection bearings.
Of course, the AS 1012 used a yoke winding system.
At the top, you can see the flat dial side Incabloc bearing.
