AS 1759

Description

The proven AS 1526 got an update with a higher beat rate (21600 A/h) and was then launched as AS 1759.

It has got a diameter of 11 1/2 lignes, but in fact, it is a 10 1/2 ligne movement, on which only the diameter of the base plate was enlarged.

AS 1759: base plate

base plate

The base plate shows, that all important bearings contain rubies. Only the minute wheel on the dial side, and the barrel on both sides are only meal beared, but since they rotate so slowly, that’s not a real disadvantage.

AS 1759: gear train

gear train

The AS 1759 uses the classical linear gear train with directly driven center minute wheel, third wheel, seconds wheel at 6 o’clock (here without prolonged axle for a seconds hand) and filigree steel escape wheel.

Of course, the AS 1759 uses a swiss pallet lever escapement. It is controlled by a golden toned, three leg Glucydur balance, which beats a little faster, with 21600 A/h.

The balance wheel is beared in two Incabloc shock protections and its precise frequency is adjusted at the hairspring key.

AS 1759: Dial side

The AS 1759 shows the familiar view on the dial side, with the Incabloc shock protection on the left and the yoke winding system on the right.

The base plate is slanted on the outer rim and cut out on the upper mainspring barrel area to reduce the height a few tenths of a millimeter.

In the lab

The specimen in the archive came without case into the lab got a simple service.

Timegrapher result

As expected, the rates are pretty well. The low amplitude values are an indicator, that this movement lacks a professional revision and will the perform even better.
