Description
The swiss manufacturer Erlsbacher from St. Imier, which was active in the early 20th century, is more or less unknown in literature, which might be due to the fact, that it only made one single caliber, the Erlsbacher 1 shown here.
It has got a diameter of 12 lignes and was e.g. used for ladies' pendant watches, which were often later transformed into wrist watches.
Technically is represents the state of a typical early 20th century cylinder movement, which was well made. So, for example, all important bearings contain rubies.
The classical cylinder movement gear train is used with directly driven center minute wheel, third wheel, seconds wheel and finally the steel cylinder wheel, which is beared under an own cock.
The flat three-leg anular balance, which is of course not yet shock protected, beats with 18000 A/h. They can be regulated (within the technical limitations of a cylinder movement, where daily deviations in the minute range are common) with a long regulator arm.
A pin on the side is used to change the crown from winding to time setting - also very common for cylinder movements.
