Description
The ETA 2512, with a diameter of 7 3/4 lignes, is already among the larger windup movements, especially those that could only display hours and minutes. Dugena gave it the internal designation Dugena 3301.
It terminates, together with its successor, the ETA 2512-1, which was even manufactured until 1983, the series of flat two-hand windup movements.
During its production run, it was of course available in different versions, a few of which are listed in the archive:
They all have very good execution in common, but because of their flat design they are very cumbersome to assemble.
The gear train design is again the same modern design with a missing central minute wheel and drive of the dial-side hand mechanism via the third wheel pinion.
The very large mainspring barrel, which extends practically to the center of the movement, drives the second wheel, followed by the third wheel and steel escape wheel.
A Swiss pallet lever is used as escapement.
The screwless balance wheel, either Glucydur or monometallic, is beared in a pair of Incabloc shock protections. It already beats at 21,600 A/h. Its sister movement, the ETA 2510, in contrast, still operates at a slower 18,000 A/h.
The adjustment is made directly on the hairspring key; the hairspring stud is movably attached, so that the beat error can be minimized.
As with the other related movements, the ratchet mechanism in the ETA 2512 is also located under the ratchet wheel.
The hand mechanism is driven on the dial side by the third wheel pinion, which acts on the minute wheel. On this, equipped with a slip clutch, is the cannon pinion mounted, into which the intermediate wheel engages, which in turn rotates the hour wheel.
As already shown on the movement side, different colored versions can also be admired on the dial side:
