ETA 746

Description

The ETA 746 is a baguette-type movement due to its shape and size. These kind of movements were very popular in the 1940ies, since they allowed the production of very slim and elegant watches.

Its quality is very high. At this time, 17 jewels were far above standard, and especially the drop-shaped deck jewel enclosure is a true beauty!

Whether the golden-toned Gluydur balance is an original part or an replacement is uncluear, but the blued hairspring is pretty sure original. An interesting detail is, that the anchor pallets are made of transparent material (but which one?).

On the dial side, there’s speciality: The minute wheel is located on the opposite side of the crown and not as usual at the crown side.

Of course, this movement uses a yoke winding system, and the engraved minute scale must not be missed either.
