Description
In 1960, the Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe released their 5 1/4 ligne form movement GUB 63.4 as the successor of the technically problematic caliber 63, which bases on the pre-WW-II movement Urofa 542.
Since the 1953 released caliber 63 showed technical difficulties, its successor was released after a few years production break and made until 1969, where, especially versus the end of the decade, it was already quite outdated.
The successor of the GUB 63.4 was the competely new developved caliber GUB 08-20.
It was well made, all important bearings contained rubies.
The gear train is the classical one with directly driven center minute wheel, third wheel, seconds wheel and filigree escape wheel.
The modern two leg anular balance is not yet shock protected and beats with the standard 18000 A/h. They can be regulated at the hairspring key only.
As escapement, a swiss pallet lever escapement is used.
On the dial side, you see the yoke winding system; the cap jewel plate for the balance bearing is still the same as on the Urofa 542.

Timegrapher result
The results of this well used movement are to be expected, and it was pretty difficult to regulate it at all.horizontal positions | |||
