Description
The HMT caliber 020 is a movement, which is pretty rare in Germany, since it originates from India.
With the help of Citizen, the Hindustan Machine Tools Ltd. produces mechanical movements since some decades. Therefore, this movement is “only” manufactured after license from Citizen and is more or less equal to a common Citizen handwound movement, the Citizen Caliber 0201. In terms of quality, those movements were pretty well made, since Citizen controlled the quality, too, and the differences were just a few details, such as lacking decoration or simpler jewel bushes.
The HMT 020 is a mens' size handwound movement with 17 jewels and a large Glucydur balance, which is beared in two Citizen Parashock protections. It is constructed in a traditional way with a direct driven center second and a center minute wheel.
Due to its size and construction, this movement was predestinated to run reliably for many years without service - an absolute must in India.
