Raketa 2609A

Description

The improved version of the 11 1/2 ligne windup movement Raketa 2609 is the caliber Raketa 2609A, described here.

It mainly differs by the number of jewels, since here, five cap jewels are used, two for the escape wheel, two for the third wheel (the top movement side cap jewels with a shock protection) one of the dial-side lever bearing. The latter is notable, since it is technically useless (the lever is not oil-beared) and at the same time, the center seconds wheel does not get a cap jeweil, though it would have been useful here.

The execution did not change, it is still well made, and as you can see, except for the mainspring barrel, bearing jewels are used everywhere.

Construction-wise, nothing changed, the mainspring barrel drives the center minute wheel, which is beared under its own cock.

The minute wheel is followed by third wheel, directly driven center seconds wheel and escape wheel. The escape wheel uses unusually short teeth.

As escapement, we have the traditional swiss pallet lever escapement.

The beautiful, golden toned screw balance beats with 18000 A/h and is beared in a pair of Incabloc shock protections. For ajustement, we have a long regulator arm here.

And another detail: Like on its predecessor, the screws on the balance ring have all the same distance, which leads to the suspicion, that they have more an aesthetic purporse than the intention to balance it. Nevertheless, on the timegrapher, the positional variations of the beat error are astonishingly low.

On the dial side, you can see the rugged yoke winding system and the said tree cap jewels and the Incabloc bearing.

The cover of the changer wheel is in contrast to the Raketa 2609 a little simpler in shape, but serves exactly the same purpose.

In the lab

The movement can slighly dirty, with hairs in the escape wheel, into the archive, was cleaned and olied.

Timegrapher result

The timegrapher results are still ok for such an old and certainly not very well treated movement.
