Description
The manufacturer Russbach-Hänni from the swiss Court is one of the manufacturers, which are pretty much unknown in literature, probably it was only short time active in the production of wristwatch movements.
The 6 3/4 x 11 ligne caliber Russbach-Hänni 2 shown here origins from the early 1920s.
For a cylinder movement it is well made with all important bearings containing rubies.
The gear train is typical for cylinder movements, but has the oddity, that the third wheel resides above the minute wheel.
Besides that, it uses the common four wheels, directly driven center minute wheel, third wheel, seconds wheel and cylinder wheel. The latter is beared under its own cock.
The Russbach-Hänni 2 uses a cylinder escapement with a three leg anular balance. Its frequency can roughly be adjusted with a long regulator arm.
On the dial side, you see the yoke winding system and the balance bearing part. On the left, there’s the “Hänni” hallmark, which allowed at least the identification of the manufacturer.
Since four-digit caliber numbers were not usual in the early 20th century, you can assume, that the embossed number “2302” is the serial number of this caliber.
