In der Literatur ist das rechteckige Gruen 849 weitgehend unbekannt. Es wurde um 1920 im Auftrag von Gruen von Charles Hahn in Landeron gebaut. Mit seiner Guillaume-Schrauenunruh, mit 16 Steinen und mit 4 Adjustments ein qualitativ recht hochwertiges Werk.
In literature, the rectangular Gruen 849 is mostly unknown. It was made around 1920 on behalf of Gruen by Charles Hahn in Landeron. With its Guillaume screw balance, with 16 jewels and four adjustments, it was a high quality movement.
The rectangular shape allowed a balance and mainspring barrel with large diameters, which was positive for the precision and power reserve.
The gear train is standard: Mainspring barrel, directly driven center minute wheel, third wheel, seconds wheel and steel escape wheel.
The Gruen 849 is constructed service-friendly, there are nowhere more than two gears under one bridge, and the escape wheel has even got its own cock.
The non shock protected slotted Guillaume screw balance beats with the usual 18000 A/h. The effective lenght of the hairspring can be adjusted with a long regulator arm and a scale.
