Description
The 5 1/4 ligne tonneau caliber Cupillard 110 dates from the 1940s. It is an interestingly constructed, well made movement for ladies' watches.
Of course all important bearings carry rubies, in total, this movement uses 15 jewels, which is typical for the time being.
Due to the small size, a multi-storey construction had to be used, where the escape wheel is on the lowest position and beared under its own cock.
The gear train uses the classical construction with directly driven center minute wheel, third wheel, seconds wheel and finally the escape wheel. Nothing really special, but…
… the sizes of the gears are pretty interesting, because the minute wheel and third wheel are unusually large, while the seconds wheel is really tiny and is located partially under the outer teeth of the mainspring barrel.
A two-leg, monometallic screw balance is used as oscillator. Its 18000 A/h can be adjusted with a long regulator arm.
Of course, the balance is not yet shock protected.
You can see the old version of the Cupillard 110 with the specifically shaped setting lever spring. And of course, this movement uses a yoke winding system.
