GUB 08-20
Description
1969, the Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe (GUB) launched the first (and also penultimate) 5 1/2 ligne ladies' watch movement in contemporary tonneau shape, which supersedes the technically outdated caliber GUB 63.4.
It was produced only until 1972 and then replaced by the later million seller GUB 09-20.

Quality-wise it was up to date and could keep up with all other (West)German and Swiss calibers of the same type.
gear train
The gear train is typical for these kinds of movements, it uses a directly driven center minute wheel (fully ruby-beared), followed by the two small third and seconds wheels and finally the rather large and filigree escape wheel.
Due to the reduced space, which this shape offers, the dial side bearing of the seconds wheel has to be located above the escape wheel.

The modern anular balance is beared in two inhouse GUB shock protections and beats with 21600 A/h. It can be regulated at the hairspring key only.
As escapement, a swiss plallet lever escapement is used.

All gears are beared unter the large three-quarted bridge. Below the ratchet wheel, there’s there’s the ratchet and its j-shaped spring. A clever solution!
