Description
Uwersi, also known as Vereinigte Uhrenfabriken Ersingen (VUFE) produced a lot of movements in then 1950ies, most of them of only standard quality, and often used in “Anker” watches.
Among the better movements was the Uwersi 57/6, a tiny form movement (5 1/4 lignes) for ladies' watches, which has got a true pallet lever movement.
The base plate shows the fair quality of the movement: All quick turning wheels are ruby-beared and the construction is massive, unlike most other Uwersi movements, which were only pillar constructions.
The gear train resembles state of the art of the 1950ies with its large escapement wheel, the small fourth and third wheel and directly driven center minute wheel.
All gears are beared under one single bridge, even the mainspring barrel. This is not very service friendly.
The screw-less anular balance is not shock protected. It beats with 18000 A/h and regulates a conventional pallet lever movement of swiss type. There’s no regulator arm for the hairspring, so the regulation happens directly at the hairspring key.
On the dial side, where Uwersi had to cut the costs to offer attractive prices: The click mechanism consists only of a simple spring. There’s no ratchet. And there’s only a rocking bar winding system, which is not neccessiarly bad, but in most cases an indication for a cheaper movement.
