watches and movements from Egon Berne
The year 2024 started with a giant package of movements and watches, which increased the number of movements in the archive by almost 20 and also brought a few yet non working movements in the archive back to life.
Egon donated these movements to the archive, because they are non-usable items for his project “Uhren für Rumänien” (watches for Romania).
This project, which started in the german Uhr-Forum consists of collecting usable watches (mostly quartz, with changed batteries) and donating them to Romania, where they are happily used. Until January 2024, almost 2500 watches were collected and sent to Romania, and their number is still increasing.
In March 2025, there was a huge donation with a total of 99 movements and watches, of which 13 were not yet in the archiv, some others have a new version for the archiv and some can be used for spare parts to get not yet running archived movements running again:
